I’m B(L)ack…

Took a bit of time off to rest and recover, but I am back and will do my best to post more regularly here. There is so much good Black Ekphrastic and other interdisciplinary work happening I may need some help getting it all posted here.

To restart things, I want to share an online portfolio of poems. called The Poets Play Bearden on the online journal theartsection. It was curated by poet Prof. Opal Moore. The title of this portfolio appears to be a nod to the awesome archival PBS film Bearden Plays Bearden

Bearden Plays Bearden BAs seen on PBS, both versions of the Emmy Award-winning definitive documentary about and starring the great African-American artist Romare Bearden. Narrated by James Earl Jones & featuring appearances by James Baldwin, Alvin Ailey, Ntozake Shange & Joseph Campbell. 2 disc DVD set includes one hour of never-before-seen bonus features.

James Earl Jones narrates the film and it has appearances by Ralph Ellison, Albert Murray, James Baldwin, and others.

Moore’s selection includes poems by Melba Joyce Boyd, Jericho Brown, Felton Eaddy, Sharan Strange, Frank X Walker and Rachel Eliza Griffiths.
